AMBSO Accelerates Momentum in 2025

Advancing sustainability through research and program expansion

The AMBSO 2025 year of work officially opened on January 6th, 2025 with a half-day staff briefing led by the Program Director. The session set tone for the year ahead, focusing on strengthening institutional capacity through capital development, resource mobilization, strategic financing, and new partnerships. The Program Director provided a clear and inspiring vision for the new year, urging Heads of Department to establish SMART targets aligned with the organization’s goal for the year. Mr. Kyasanku outlined a strategic approach which was summarized in to; the implementation plan and the risk mitigation plan hinting on the opportunities ahead and likely hindrances to the planned objectives of the year.

In his address, he also expressed optimism about the organization’s trajectory, stating, “We have witnessed significant growth in our human resource development and capital investments, particularly in our infrastructure, our collaborations continue to expand because of the quality of our research data. I would like to implore everyone of us to multiply their efforts as we step into 2025.’’ He further emphasized the importance of strong leadership for all staff at supervisory levels likening effective leadership to the strength of a lion leading an army of sheep as opposed to a sheep leading an army of lions.

Other staff led sessions with remarks on the importance of time accountability, continuous staff feedback, and capacity building delving further into intensified efforts to advance staff engagement, improving performance reviews, and working within the organizational policies were remarked on by the organization’s Human Resource Manager. Mr. Daama Alex, a member of the Senior Management Team also expressed gratitude to the staff for a year in focus highlighting the need for discipline, respect for the organization’s culture, exemplary leadership, and alignment with institutional policies.

The event climaxed in a keynote address by Dr. Fred Nalugoda, a member of the Board, who reflected on the successes of the past year and shared an inspiring message for 2025. He expressed gratitude to the staff for their commitment and encouraged them to approach the new year with hope and positivity. Dr. Fred concluded with a call to action, challenging staff to be reliable, honest, and confident in their roles. He encouraged a positive attitude, openness to feedback, and a commitment to excellence, stating that with dedication and teamwork, 2025 would be a transformative year for AMBSO.

In conclusion, AMBSO annually conducts a Start of the year Staff briefing, often held at Head office so as to build momentum, unify staff, and discuss key priorities for activity implementation throughout the year.
