New York University

The research collaboration between New York University’s School of Global Public Health (NYU GPH) and AMBSO was officially launched in October 2024 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that formalized this partnership. The partnership focuses on key areas of global health, including nutrition and food insecurity, HIV/AIDS, cancer among others
The collaboration has facilitated numerous initiatives, including research capacity building at AMBSO, mentorship for young investigators, and opportunities for doctoral and master’s students at SDSU to engage with AMBSO’s data for their theses and dissertations.

NYU GPH and AMBSO are currently collaborating on a research project that investigates the prevalence and determinants of food insecurity within the APHS cohort in Uganda.

This study aims to assess how food and nutrition insecurity, along with its associated factors, vary by HIV status, and to explore the broader impacts of food and nutrition insecurity on health outcomes. Through these projects, the collaboration seeks to deepen understanding of the links between nutrition, food insecurity, and HIV, while developing targeted interventions to improve health outcomes in HIV affected communities in Uganda.
