The Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO) participated in the East African point of care viral load monitoring project writing workshop titled “Winning in the Publishing Game.“
The intensive two-day training, held at Admas Grand Hotel from February 17th to 18th, was facilitated by Dr. Jocalyn Clark, an internationally renowned Executive Editor at BMJ. Through in-depth discussions and hands-on exercises, she equipped participants with essential skills for publishing in top-tier medical journals such as The Lancet and BMJ. The training covered structuring high-impact research papers, navigating the competitive publishing landscape, and adhering to rigorous editorial and ethical standards. Dr. Clark emphasized the importance of understanding the publishing ecosystem, developing a structured writing plan, crafting compelling manuscripts, and engaging effectively with editorial and peer-review processes.
Drawing from her extensive experience of over two decades in global medical publishing, she highlighted the fierce competition for publication in prestigious journals and stressed that success requires not only technical excellence but also strategic positioning, clarity of argument, and strict adherence to ethical publishing practices.
The workshop provided AMBSO’s scientific writing team with critical insights and practical tools to strengthen their research publication capacity, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to producing impactful and globally recognized scientific work.
