The Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO) participated in the Tubeere Balamu Health Camp in Ssingo, Mityana District, from March 11th –12th, 2025. During the two-day event, 126 men aged 70 and above underwent screening for prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a key marker for prostate cancer.
The event was attended by Omulangira (Prince) Kintu David Wasajja as the chief guest, who commended healthcare providers for their unwavering commitment to community health. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various health sector players in ensuring free access to essential medical screening and treatment across Buganda, noting that HIV/AIDS and cancers remain the largest disease burdens in the country.
Mr. Alex Lubwama, AMBSO’s Field Coordinator, welcomed the prince to the field clinic and highlighted the strong turnout of men from the Ssingo region seeking free health services.
Since its launch late last year, the Tubeere Balamu Health Camp has played a crucial role in delivering free medical screenings and treatment. Organized by a consortium of healthcare providers, the initiative continues to expand access to essential health services across Buganda’s Masazza, significantly improving healthcare delivery in underserved communities.
