Dr. Francis Kiweewa

Dr. Francis Kiweewa, MD, MMED, MPH, is the Executive Director of the Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Research Aministration (SICRA) in Lira. With a distinguished career in clinical research, Dr. Kiweewa specializes in vaccine research, HIV therapeutics, infectious diseases, and non-communicable diseases. His leadership at SICRA has been instrumental in building robust research frameworks and enhancing the capacity for high-quality clinical trials in Uganda. Dr. Kiweewa collaborates closely with the African Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO), he served as the Principal Investigator on the SIENA study that AMBSO conducted at her research site in Hoima. His roles involved overseeing the study’s design, implementation, and analysis, ensuring that it meets rigorous scientific and ethical standards. Through this collaboration, Dr. Kiweewa contributes significantly to advancing clinical research and fostering sustainable healthcare solutions in Africa.
