Community Engagement Lead
Michael Owor is a Community Engagement expert with a Bachelor's degree in Demography and Reproductive Health from Kyambogo University and pursuing a Master's degree in Public Health-Health Promotion from Uganda Martyrs University. As the community section lead at the Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO), Michael has over seven years of experience in community engagement, with specialty in community mobilization, health education, and behavioral change communication.

As the community section lead at the Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO), Michael has over seven years of experience in community engagement, with specialty in community mobilization, health education, and behavioral change communication. He led the development of a community engagement strategy to recruit and retain adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) for the Purpose 1 clinical trial at the AMBSO Masaka site, significantly enhancing the study’s outreach and community impact.
Michael has also been instrumental in establishing the Community Advisory Boards (CAB) at AMBSO for Masaka, Hoima, and Kampala research sites, and plays a crucial role in managing AMBSO’s participation in the National Cross CAB network in Uganda. He oversees recruitment and retention activities for all AMBSO research protocols, ensuring strong public relations with community stakeholders. His technical expertise in designing and implementing community-based interventions has fostered partnerships with local and international stakeholders, contributing to the success of various epidemiological and clinical research studies at AMBSO
